It’simportant that the computer you use has all of the requiredplug-ins. Use this page to test your computer and add any plug-ins thatyou don’t have. You will need to run this test on ANY computer that you are using to take the online course.
Before downloading the applications, you should first check to see if you already have these items.

Recommended Browser for D2L Courses:
PC – Internet Explorer 10 or 11, Firefox (newest), Chrome (newest) - some content will not function properly in Chrome. Firefox is recommended.
MAC – Firefox (newest) or Safari (5.1 or 6.0) *Firefox works best for most content
To check the version of your browser:
1. Internet Explorer 10 or above – Open the browser. Select Help. Select About.
2. Firefox newest - Open the browser. Select Help. Select About.
You will find the version of your browser listed under About. If you need a newer version, upgrades are available at the following sites: Internet Explorer, Firefox
Flash and Shockwave Player
To check for Flash and Shockwave players, click here. When you see the animation playing below the labeled box, then your installation was successful. If they don’t move, you need to download the player by going to the following links: Flash, Shockwave
To check if you have java installed, go to http://www.javatester.org/version.html.
Under Method 1: Ask Java, if Java is working, you will see a pink box above with one line of text that says something like:
Java Version: 1.1.4 from Microsoft Corp. or
Java Version 1.4.2_05 from Sun Microsystems Inc. or
Java Version: 1.3.1 from Apple Computer, Inc.

Adobe Acrobat Reader
To test if you have the Adobe Acrobat Reader, try to open this document. If you can see the text, you have Acrobat reader installed. If you are not able to see the text, you need to download Adobe Reader.
MS Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats
Open, edit, and save documents, workbooks, and presentations in the file formats new to Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. If you do NOT have Office you can install the compatibility pack.
*PWCS students have FREE access to Microsoft Office. Please check with the student's base school technology resource personnel for information on how to access Microsoft Office software.
